Grandiose is the result of a two year long study & project, stemming from my yearning for nature and affinity for landscape photography while investigating self-discovery and reflection through introspective studies of ‘macro landscapes’, photographed on large format black and white film.
I photographed small rock structures, peaks, and facets reminiscent of vast mountain ranges, summits, and notches. My goal is to challenge the viewer by embracing the eye in a landscape created through forced perspective and patience and to invoke curiosity in one's self: the sharp, bright faces of the small rocks abutting dark, deep crevasses reflect the contours of our thinking and growth.
Grandiose is the beginning of a larger body of work: I will continue to explore the ground around us and how the often unseen and overlooked can be immense, invoking a sense of grandeur if we take the time to study, reflect, and accept new perspectives.
